The stadium is outside of the city proper in a small suburb of Cologne – although there is ample parking, it can be a bit of a nightmare when you leave the ground and try and get back into the city.Thus, public transport is the most convenient way of getting to and from the RheinEnergie Stadion. There is only one route to take as well – from many points around the city centre you can jump on the Number 1 Tram. This will take you the 'Rheinenergie-Stadion' station – from which the stadium is only a 5-minute walk away! Just follow the hordes of FC Koln fans!

The food and drink on offer here is actually not too bad. They have a decent range of Bratwursts on offer – including the delicious Currywurst as well as some 'Arena burgers'. All of these can be bought on their own or with fries as part of a meal deal. The quality of the food is very good and the prices are reasonable. There is of course beer to be bought – just don't forget the cup 'rental' cost – which you can get back at the end.

In the run up to the 2006 world cup over 115 million Euro was poured into the stadium to make it a fantastic experience. The running track was removed which has created a more intimate experience and personal feel to the place. Not bad when you consider that it's capacity is 50,000. Unlike a lot of modern stadium's it has 4 separate stands.If you want an unforgettable experience make sure you get either a seat or a standing ticket in the South Stand – here you will be surrounded by chanting fans, waving flags and twirling banners – it's a great sight!

FC Koln's willingness to incorporate standing room inside their stadium is fanatic – these ticket prices lower are than normal which means that the ground is a lot busier than it would be if the prices were extortionate. This near capacity stadium is so close to the pitch which really does create a special atmosphere! The songs and chants reverberate around the stadium for the whole game and the place erupts when a goal is scored! It's a great, friendly and passionate experience.
