Dundee FC are much like the rest of Scottish Football in their culinary offerings: pies, sausage rolls and burgers make up most of the options. Well, that and chocolate bars of course! Since Scottish clubs also don't sell alcohol, I'd say that really your best bet is to eat outside of the stadium. Grab a bit in town before the game, or hold it off and make the most of Dundee's fine restaurants once you're back in afterwards.

While there isn't a huge amount to do around the stadium, there's one thing that will never be lacking on a matchday: the fans. If you want to make the most of it, then head to a local pub (like the Centenary) a good few hours before kick-off and mingle with everyone inside. Fans will happily regale you with stories, tales and fibs about their team, which really helps build excitement. Cap it off with a hot pie and some delicious beer to get you primed and ready for the match. The anticipation and energy you can build with the other fans cannot be understated – trust me, it's worth it.

Using TVs, text and audio clips, you can spend hours at Discovery Point, learning all about the way these men lived – and died – in the name of exploration. It's an exceedingly interesting, interactive museum-of-sorts and gets rave reviews from virtually everyone who pops in. Not far at all from the stadium either, so you can do both in a day!

Dens Park seating?

Operating a category system, games against Celtic, Aberdeen, Hearts and Dundee United cost a few pounds more (£25) than the rest of the SPL (£22). Though it's an all-seater stadium, a large number of the fans elect to stand. However, be careful about standing outside of a larger crowd as the security staff have no issues chucking you out. The stands are all much the same, so the 'best seats' really come down to which side of the stadium you like to view the match from.

Though Dundee itself has a bit of a bad rep when it comes to violence, the fans at Dens Park are usually pretty well behaved! While it's common for many pubs to say "HOME FANS ONLY” or, sometimes, declare themselves as "away friendly”, the Centenary bar near the ground has a room for each side. If you are willing to walk slightly further (circa 5 minutes) then there is the Clep bar on Clepington Road: the food is hot, tasty and cheap, while the beer is similar, if a lot colder! The Stobswell Sports Club is a few minutes' further away, but is a more family-friendly option if that's what you're after.
