The seating arrangements are fairly typical of football stadiums around the world and the differences between the Tribunes and the Curva's are the same here as they are everywhere. The seats behind the goals (Curva's) are the place to go if you want to be around singing and chanting, whereas the tribunes are slightly more sedate. Following SPAL's promotion to Serie B in 2016, the club did add 1,000 seats to the capacity and so the newest most comfortable seats are found the Tribunes.

As you can probably guess, Italian stadiums don't usually carry much in the way of refreshments and the same is true here. This is a very old stadium and hasn't really had much done to it in the ways of refurbishments so either try not to come hungry or bring some small snacks with you.

There is a good beer selection, rivaling XI and it has some of the best pizza in the town!Birraria Giori has a picture perfect location, right behind the Estense Castle. They specialize in home brewed beers and definitely has one of the best nighttime atmosphere's in Ferrara.

The stadium has been around since the late 1920's and so still has the luxury of being relatively central in Ferrara. This makes the journey to the arena super easy and simple. Stadio Paolo Mazza is only a 5 minute walk from the main train station and just a 10 minute stroll from the city centre. There is a smattering of parking around the stadium but with it being so fantastically located you can find a place to park anywhere in the historic centre!
What to expect from the Stadio Paolo Mazza crowd?
Don't go to a SPAL 2013 thinking you will get the same atmosphere that you would feel at a Juventus game or at the San Siro. This is a Serie B team after all and with a capacity of only around 8500 there isn't a tonne of noise generated. However, this does mean that the fans that do go to the games are diehard SPAL fans and so will get into the game more than a fairweather fan would! Expect the odd flare and flags!

I Piaceri DI Lucrezia is a great option to eat at, especially if you are dining as a group! The Mediterranean BBQ is a fantastic option and will have you coming back for more and more! The Florentine Steak is also a speciality here. Farina del Mio Sacco is a good lunch spot. Think big plates of charcuterie and cured meats as well as the regional dish, a Piadina. Piadina is a sort of folded flatbread filled with all sorts of goodies. Almost a very large taco.If you are in a rush and are in need of a quick lunch, Zazie is a good spot. They serve all manners of lunch foods such as rice, burgers and take pride in their soups too!
Safety at Stadio Paolo Mazza?
The capacity of the stadium is just 8,500 and the games very rarely sell out. As such the games are never that rowdy and fairly safe. Nevertheless, there are passionate fans and that passion always has a chance to boil over, just take the normal precautions.
