Estadio de Gran Canaria is a venue in or near Las Palmas de Gran Canaria that is most often used for Soccer

Best restaurants near Estadio de Gran Canaria?

Since the stadium is built in the middle of a residential area, there's pretty much nothing in the way of restaurants nearby. What to do is jump back up to Las Palmas central and either wander along eastern beachfront (quite a number of options there) or just stay at the peak and take your pick. There are dozens of restaurants of all styles, nationalities and price ranges, so something is bound to catch your eye. My recommendation would be Kitchen Lovers, since it is right on the beach and the quality of food is unreal.

Best Insider tip at Estadio de Gran Canaria?

Don't worry too much about buying your tickets in advance and worrying about international postage, or what to do if the printer breaks - Las Palmas don't really ever sell out, so you can just stroll up and buy your tickets at the stadium, on the day. They're pretty cheap, so you can include it in your plan and if you get caught up or decide to do something else, there's nothing lost! It is definitely worth a trip though - much as the locals aren't enjoying the new stadium, it's good quality football.

Best Bars around Estadio de Gran Canaria?

While you might find a local bar here or there in the area around the stadium, it's a family suburb which doesn't really market itself for large groups of thirsty football fans. Instead, head into central Las Palmas and dine out on the array of bars available there. There's the Aloha Tiki Bar where you can buy all sorts of cheeky drinks, many of them themed after its Hawaiian roots. The NYC Taxi Rock Bar will transport you back in time to....well, modern America! It is a really cool bar though, with quality music.

Things to check out around Estadio de Gran Canaria?

Let's go to the beach, each. Let's go get a wave...Seriously though, La Playa de las Canteras is a sublime beach of white sand, stretching for a long way down the coast. The water is blue, the sun is hot - this is pretty much Northern Africa remember! Whether it's relaxing with a cold beer or cocktail (oh yes, there are plenty of bars in the area selling drinks!), reading your book or just being idiots with your pals, it's a great place to be. Remember your suncream!

Estadio de Gran Canaria seating?

If you haven't ever seen the stadium before, then you might not know about its biggest drawback - you're really far from the action! Because it doubles as an athletics stadium, there's a 400m running track, long jump area and, in general, quite a lot going on between you and the players. While this doesn't make it a bad experience, it's not the same as most other stadia in the game. The seats themselves are comfortable and offer decent legroom (it was refurbished in 2003). Unlike the rest of the league, tickets are about €15-35, covering the worst to the best seats, which is really cheap for a Spanish top flight game!

What to expect from the Estadio de Gran Canaria crowd?

The atmosphere comes and goes in Las Palmas, partially due to the stadium design which isn't very conducive to generating noise. However, there's no denying that UD Las Palmas are a quality football team - when you go to their matches, you're going to see some of the highest quality football Spain has to offer, and that leaves a lot to be excited about. On their day, the crowd are as passionate and vocal as any in La Liga, but they just aren't quite as consistent.

How do I get to Estadio de Gran Canaria?

The easiest way to travel the 5km or so from the centre of Las Palmas is by bus: you can either get the number 45 (to Avenida Pinto Felo Monzón) or the 47 which runs to Calle Arguineguín, both close to the stadium. You can also drive there; as it's a residential area, there is a fair amount of street parking up for grabs, however be careful not to tread on anyone else's property or you could get in trouble! Finally, there are always taxis if you don't fancy cramming onto a busy bus.

Best Food and Drink at Estadio de Gran Canaria?

Unfortunately there are virtually no stadiums in Europe which offer enough choice on catering to define a "best" food and drink. What's available is the usual football fare like burgers, which are perfectly fine to keep you going until dinner. However, if you're going spend your money, I think you should use it for something worthwhile: eat a sandwich or a quick meal before the game, then go for a proper dinner (for not much more money) in the middle of Las Palmas. There you'll have a gastronomic experience worth paying for, plus you'll be right by the beach!
