Sam Boyd Stadium is a venue in Las Vegas
There are lots of golf courses nearby and a plethora of fabulous places to eat and relax. They also have amusement rides at the stratosphere and roller coasters inside the hotels. They have many shows and concerts playing nightly and then there is always gambling.
There is no stadium store. They sell your basic shirts, hats, and some jerseys but its best to hit up the local bookstore or Walmart to find the best gear.
They give out Running Rebel towels to wave, hats, posters, t-shirts, and other Vegas gear. The ticket stub also gives you some discount to a show or restaurant.
Parking can range from free in many places a mile away and then $5-$10 depending on the lots closest to the stadium.
The best insider tip is to stay during halftime to watch the marching bands perform their school songs as well as oldies and new hits. They are entertaining and kids especially love watching them so go get food and take your restroom break between quarters or a timeout.
The crowd is very friendly and very young. They have a great student selection. When you go to the bowl game it is usually a lot of families vacationing and then your boosters from the two schools. It is a fun place to watch a football game in the winter.
There are scalpers outside the stadium but there really isn't a need for them and the stadium hardly ever sells out so if you can get a good deal do it but don't pay more than face value.
You have your basic game-day foods of hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza, chicken fingers, nachos, pretzels, etc. They also serve water and Pepsi products. Nothing too extravagant.
They have some memorabilia of the years with Randall Cunningham and then some of the John Robinson teams. They also post the scores of the Las Vegas Bowl. I think they need the Running Rebel mascot and a possible statue here.
The stadium is located a few miles from the strip at 7000 E Russell Road Las Vegas, NV 89122. The major freeways don't run directly into the stadium unfortunately so there ends up being a little traffic due to stop lights.
My all time favorite Cafe Rio which serves a pork marinated in Coke is close by and worth every bite. They also have pizza places, Subway, mCDonalds, In-N-Out etc. close by.
There are really no bars close to Sam Boyd stadium. The nearest ones are a few miles away on Boulder Hwy.
The area around Las Vegas is pretty safe and there are plenty of cops directing traffic after games. I have always felt safe walking around campus and probably just don't do it at 3:00 AM.
The stadium is perfect for football and there really isn't a bad seat in the house. I like sitting by the UNLV marching band since they play a lot of popular songs.
