FedEx Forum is a venue in or near Memphis that is most often used for Basketball
The Forum has nothing unique going on. They have hot dogs, pork sandwiches, chicken fingers pizza, nachos, and fries as well as lukewarm beer and soda.
The Grizzly Den is a great store to grab your Grizzly gear. They sell the NBA replica jerseys and shorts, t-shirts, bear claws, and other stuffed animals.
The Grizzlies haven't had much success in the difficult western conference but have a few banners with their division titles. They also have Jerry West come out from time to time to wave at the crowd.
There are a couple of country bars nearby and then all the local restaurants sell liquor with their great BBQ so walk 3 blocks in any direction of the stadium and you will find a good spot.
The Forum is built for basketball and feels like you are on top of the players. It is a cool place to watch a game and there is literally not a bad seat in the house.
There are lots of BBQ restaurants close to the stadium that serve great BBQ and ribs and have a tomato based sauce which is tangy and great rub. They also have some Mexican and Italian places but most of the business was going to the BBQ.
There isn't much traffic around the stadium and I have never had a problem coming or leaving a game. Sometimes the Tigers and the Grizzlies are scheduled together which can sometimes cause traffic on the freeway but overall it isn't bad.
There are parking garages for around $10 which are pretty close to the stadium and then there is free street parking north and south of the stadium but people grab those pretty quickly.
The Grizzlies' crowd are loud and love their team. They had been used to college basketball greatness but were enthralled with the arrival of the Grizzlies in the last decade. They are friendly, loud, and like to whine to the refs.
The Forum gives away Grizzlie t-shirts, hats, posters, basketball cards of the teams stars and towels to wave around.
The stadium is located in downtown Memphis and is on the famous 191 Beale St. which has the Rock n Soul Museum, Guitar Factory, and a bunch of other museums and restaurants.
There is lots to do around Memphis. Nashville and country music are close by and then there are thousands of local country bars to drink and dance the night away. There is also plenty of good Memphis bbq and ribs going on. The Memphis Tigers campus is nearby as well.
I would definitely go hit up Graceland while in town which is only a short drive away but I really like Elvis and his music. This is a cool place and gets a lot of tourists throughout the year.
The scalpers are fine to deal with and just make sure to negotiate down because they always have tickets available at the actual box office. Remember you have the bargaining power!
The stadium is in a good spot but there are some rough areas in Memphis. Try to just stick close to the stadium and you should be fine.
