The San Diego Zoo is a must. There is also Coronado Island which has beautiful sandy beaches. There is also Tijuana not too far away if you like being adventurous.

The stadium is in a great spot in San Diego and you couldn't feel safer if you were in your mother's arms. There are also plenty of security in case people get out of hand but I have never seen a situation where they got involved.
