RFK Stadium is a venue in Washington DC
No real issues, occasional drunk teens and twenty somethings picking fights with each other, but pretty easy to steer clear. The halftime drum circle is not for the feint of heart.
Chill out after the game, have one last beer with your friends, and you'll be good to go. Not much traffic unless you try to push your way out right after the game
The taste of the Carribean (Section 311) stand is a great option, if you enjoy jerk chicken, ribs, yucca and plantains. The rice and beans are filling as well, so if you're hungry and handle a little spice, I recommend this option. Cheese Papusas (205,209 227,312, 317) are not a bad value buy, the pulled pork (212, 226) will be meaty but expensive, and Peruvian chicken (228) is always a good mass produced option.
There's actually great merchandise being sold for half the price in the parking lots, or just outside the metro stop. Certain packages offer merchandise incentives as well.
Great mix of people, heavy Latin Contigent, everything from families to rowdy twenty somethings. Many fans go primarily for the tailgate, so be prepared for intoxicated debauchery.
From a man who has enjoyed countless United games, my suggestion is this, round up your friends, tailgate hard, hit the fan sections, bounce with the crowds in the rickety bleachers, mosh it up in the halftime drum circle, toss a beer in the air and throw a couple more back, sleep it off sore, then wake with a smile on your face.
I would head back to H St Country Club if your feeling spry or lively after the game. It's a common transition for United fans. Otherwise, the Rock'nRoll hotel is likely to have a live show, and the Biergarten patios will be more relaxed at this time, a good place to talk soccer or catch up with friends
Get there early, park away from the stadium by the water. La Barra Brava and the Sreaming Eagles like to set up on the patch of grass before the water, and they put on the livest pregame. Also official tailgate passes include cornhole, BBQ and more.
All types of free giveaways from hats and shirts to tailgating passes. Tailgating passes are great because they include free beers, food, and entertainment
For all those fans of American football, the retired numbers of Redskin Legends are in a ring around the upper deck. Reminisce on the days of Redskins glory, our greatest moments were in that stadium.
Any real united fan will tell you the real party is in the parking lot, but if you are looking for a local establishment, look no further than the Biergarten Haus, or the H Street Country club. Beirgarten will have the European soccer games on and glass boots full of awesome beers. H Street will have Mexican, mini-golf, and other games for those who prefer a more active pregame.
H St, is one of D.C's most up and coming areas, and closest neighborhood to the stadium.
Best seats- Anything within the Barra Brava and Screaming Eagle fan sections. Its not a D.C. United game until you feel bleachers bouncing!Worst seats- Anything upper deck. No need to sit so far away. Also avoid corner flags extended, as a few spots have limited visibility.
RFK is easily metro accessible if you don't mind the walk, its about 10 minutes, but as opposed to other sporting events, traffic is not too bad. My best suggestion is to carpool, split the 20 dollar parking, and make friends in the lot. Great tailgating scene.
Not a big scalping scene, games don't sell out, if you stood by the metro you could get face value or offer a slight discount. Not a way to make money.
