WWK ARENA is a venue in or near Augsburg that is most often used for Soccer
Being a nearly brand new stadium, Augsburg are very keen to show off the facilities here at the WWK Arena. As such for just €5 you can go on an exclusive behind the scenes tour of the ground. You can walk though corridors and into rooms that are normally just reserved for players and staff. As well as seeing the press areas, you get to take a peek in the changing rooms before going to the pitch itself. If you're lucky, you might even get a seat in the dug out!
Since the stadium is 20 minutes outside from the city, there is not really much to see nearby. However, before going to the stadium I highly recommend a stroll through the nearby city center and the historical old town. Great architecture, pompous churches and cool bars await you. The central station is not far from the city center. Catch a tram from there which directly will get you to the stadium. If traveling with your kids, why not go and see the Augsburg Zoo which is only 3.5km from the stadium.
Augsburg is one of the most historic cities in Germany, so there are plenty of things to keep you occupied. The stereotypical German love of beer and sausage comes to life in Augsburg, so make sure to allow time after the game to enjoy what Bavaria does best by visiting one of the traditional bierkellers. For the more contemporary scene, the WWK Arena is on the edge of the Universitätsviertel, home to thousands of students. That means cheap eats, stylish bars and plenty of clubs, especially if you're into techno.
