Turf Moor is a venue in or near Burnley that is most often used for Soccer

Turf Moor seating?

There has been a fair bit of griping over the years from both home and away fans about the seating. It's an old stadium, and there are plenty of obscured views in the cheaper seats as well as an astounding lack of legroom in front of the small plastic chairs. It's not make-or-break for the stadium, but just a little less comfortable than you'd expect in the top flight. Tickets range from £30-40 for home fans, but are capped at £30 for visitors.

Best Food and Drink at Turf Moor?

While many venues extort their fans to the value of over £4 for a pie or sausage roll, Turf Moor is a more sensible haven for those without money to burn. Pies cost £3 and sausage rolls are and hot dogs are even less – not quite Lidl, but it's a pretty good deal. There's no such luxury such as wine in the stadium, but a lager, cider or bitter will give you about £1.50 change from a fiver, which is also pretty fair pricing. As with most footie matches, better food will be found away from the stadium!

What to expect from the Turf Moor crowd?

The crowd at Burnley has been the source of some controversy over the years. While their reputation may be exaggerated, many travelling fans warn that you should be sensible travelling to/from the game. That, however, kind of goes for any football match. The crowd are usually very up for it, looking for a close match with some quality attacking football. Fans tend to mix well in the pub before the game, so you shouldn't have to expect any trouble wearing your kit before kick-off.

Things to check out around Turf Moor?

Sometimes if you're going to make the most of it, a trip to the football needs to be balanced with something unique; something unexpected. For me, and a first visit to Turf Moor, this has to be the Singing Ringing Tree of Burnley. It's a beautifully constructed mass of steel pipes which form the shape of a tree blowing in the wind. Remarkably, it harnesses the wind flowing through it to act like a self-controlled wind instrument. It's absolutely worth the visit, though more easily reached by car as it's a few miles away.

Best restaurants near Turf Moor?

If it's classic "British” cuisine that you're looking for, then Bertram's is less than a mile away and quiet, tranquil and in a gorgeous setting; could be the perfect way to unwind after the excitement of a game? The food is gorgeously presented, not too pricey and comes with a damn fine drinks menu!If you want something a little less luxurious (fair enough, since you just forked out on the game!) then head into the centre of Burnley where there will be plenty of bars and restaurants for you to choose from.

Best Pubs around Turf Moor?

For me, there's nothing that gets you pumped and ready for the big game than a few drinks with your pals in a nearby watering hole. Burnley is something of an enigma among Premier League sides as the nearby pubs are happy to accommodate both home and away fans! This creates a great, rivalrous vibe at the likes of the Queen Victoria Public House, Bridge Bier Huise and the Talbot pub which are all within 10-15 minutes' walk of the stadium. Enjoy a drink on me!**Sorry, just being nice…

How do I get to Turf Moor?

The stadium is a little way outside of the Burnley town centre, and there are two local train stations which will get you to the stadium: Manchester Road station which is a 15-minute walk and is fed by Manchester Victoria, and Burnley Central which is a 20-minute walk and where most travelling fans will arrive into town. You can drive there, but parking is pretty non-existent, so do your best to use public transport where possible.

Best Insider tip at Turf Moor?

The East Lancashire Derby – maybe avoid that particular game. It's a rivalry of towns, more than just football clubs, and extends back many decades. With that rivalry comes a serious animosity between the fans which has been known to escalate beyond profane language and insults to serious violence. If you're looking for fun afternoon – especially with your children – then pick another match, and leave this one to the veteran fans who know what they're getting themselves in for.
