The seating arrangements are very much how you would expect them to be. The hardcore home fans are found behind the North Stand and create a heck of an atmosphere! There are both standing and seated areas here – with the lower tier being devoted to standing room tickets – and for just €13, the terraces are packed every match day. The stadium was last expanded in 1999 and this means that some of the pitfalls that come with older stadiums are present here. Seats at the back of the home stand are partially covered by the roof and there are supporting pillars than can obstruct the view.However – it is just like a club like Freiburg to give their most recent and best stand (South) to visiting fans! Also with standing and seating areas, the two-tiered stand is open and has unrestricted views!The East Stand also suffers from a low hanging roof, so the best views are to be found in the West Stand – prices here reflect that with tickets costing around €40

The Schwarzwald Stadion in Freiburg is one of the few venues in the Bundesliga which is always sold out on every match day. This has two reasons. Number one are the fans, the support in this region for their beloved team is great, nobody ever wants to miss a game. Second, the stadium is pretty small only fitting about 24,000 spectators. This is why the prices are a bit higher than you might think regarding the rather old stadium. Prices are between 13-15€ (stances) and 34-64€ (categories 1 to 3, sitting). Make sure you book your tickets in advance! I recommend going for Blocks E, F or G (East stands) so you have a great view over the pitch and the fans to your left and right. Moreover, these tickets are cheaper (34€) but visibility is still great.

The stadium is old (they want to build a new one) and signs of wear and tear are everywhere. Depending on your opinion, this can cause problems or be a delight. There are pillars to obscure the view in either end and along one of the side and facilities are somewhat spartan, but on the plus side, fans are on top of the pitch and the atmosphere can be excellent. Standing tickets behind either goal are a reasonable €15, but even the cheapest seats are upwards of €36. Away fans will have a perfect view, however, as there are no pillars in that section.
