Things to check out around Schwarzwald Stadion?

Schwarzwald Stadion is a venue in Freiburg

Freiburg has long been overshadowed by so many of its neighbouring city – but if you get the chance to go there, there is plenty of things to see and do that will make you want to return! There are some fantastically old buildings in the city centre with the Munsterplatz and the Freiburg Cathedral taking centre stage – make sure you bring your camera and head to the top for an amazing view!If you are after something a little more adrenaline packed – rent a car and head to Europa Park. This fantastic theme park is chock full of exciting rides and with 'Silver Star' they have one of the fastest and most exhilarating rides in the whole country, maybe even Europe!

With the stadium being a bit outside of the city there is not too much to do when you're already finding yourself at the venue. One exceptions is the open air swimming pool right next to it. A great place for your kids if you want to go there before a match. It has a water slide and a huge playground, tickets are very cheap. If you want to see any sights in Freiburg you will have to start in the city center about 3km away. This is where you will find a lot of historical buildings like the "Freiburg Münster” (impressive cathedral), museums or the townhall. All the buildings still have their medieval touch, amazing city center to visit!

This is a beautiful part of the world, arguably the most scenic stadium location in Germany, so arriving early and having a wander around is recommended. If you have time and the weather allows it, it is possible to walk out from the town centre to the stadium all along the Dreisam river, with forest on the left and the city on the right. Plenty of fans will attempt this too, so join the throng and enjoy the atmosphere.
