The traffic around MGM Grand is crazy during an event. It is especially bad if you are in a parking garage so I recommend just playing a couple hands of blackjack or something else to kill the time.
MGM Grand parking?
There is plenty of parking everywhere as long as you are staying at the hotel, gambling, or seeing an event so you can park at the actual MGM Grand but just make sure to get there early on a fight night. There is also free valet but again make sure to get there early.
Dealing with scalpers at MGM Grand?
There are plenty of scalpers outside the arena. They really try to hike up the prices to 200-300% above face value so unless you have a lot of cash or really need to see the event I wouldn't deal with them.
Things to checkout around MGM Grand?
There is the stratosphere, New York New York Roller coasters, a gondola ride on the Venetian. They also have outlet malls a few miles away with other great shopping on the strip. There are lots of golf courses and nearby pools for you to relax in. They also have gambling and a myriad of shows from Cirque de sol to concerts from Britney Spears.
MGM Grand seating?
The seating for the arena could be better especially for fights. The seats in the back of the arena make it extremely difficult for you to see punches and for a UFC match once they hit the ground good luck. I would try to pay a little more money to sit up closer.
Best giveaways at MGM Grand?
They give out free flyers and sometimes wave-able towels for the fight. For as much as you pay to get a seat you should get more from them. The PAC 12 tournament for basketball gives out free seat cushions and programs to all attendees.
Artifacts to look for at MGM Grand?
The MGM Grand has pictures and plaques of famous fights that have happened in the past. They also have posters and banners and ads for the current and upcoming events that will happen at the Grand.
Best bars near MGM Grand?
There are literally hundreds of places to grab a drink around the strip. There are people selling alcohol at every establishment. They also let you bring in alcohol from the casinos or bars to the actual arena which is really nice.
Best insider tip for MGM Grand?
I love going to watch the fountain show at the Bellagio. The songs they play that matches the sprays is amazing and mesmerizing. I could sit there all day just watching it. They play shows all day and night and it is truly something you need to do.
Best restaurants near MGM Grand?
There is a good Wolfgang Puck place to eat at. I also love Cafe Rio which offers the best Tex-Mex food in the world. They also have high end steakhouses and seafood in every hotel. The buffets are excellent but sometimes the lines can get rather long.
What to expect from the MGM Grand crowd?
The crowd is worth the price of admission for fight night. I am not a UFC or boxing fan but seeing a UFC fight with everyone watching every punch and oooing and awiinng was pretty entertaining and the crowd really gets into it. They also sing to the music during the breaks and there are plenty of celebs to look at.
Stores to hit up at MGM Grand?
There are literally thousands of high priced stores all along the strip selling suits, purses, memorabilia, toys, etc. The Grand sells shirts for the fights and hats and other little knick nacks but it could be better and bigger. They also need more cashiers because the lines can get ridiculous.
Safety at MGM Grand?
The safety is pretty good after a fight or event. There are lots of security guards everywhere and every once in a while you will get a drunken fan who does something stupid but if you stay on the strip you are perfectly fine.
Directions to MGM Grand?
The MGM Grand is on the strip and is the perfect place to watch a fight. There are walkways connecting the Tropicana to New York New York and then to MGM but you can also walk outside to get to the arena.
Best food and drink at MGM Grand?
The MGM grand arena has horrible food and everything seems to be burnt or taste like cardboard. However, just eat beforehand at one of the great restaurants nearby and you will be good. They also allow you to bring drinks in from outside the arena. If somehow you do need food there they have a hot dog, pretzels, nachos with that horrible orange cheese, and popcorn.
