The Miami Hurricanes are a source of pride for many South Floridians. I was blessed enough to attend the first home game for the University of Miami football team. At the time the facility was referred to as Dolphin Stadium, but the stadium was almost exactly as it is today. The pre-game was filled with Miami’s famous tailgating crowd, amped up to start a new chapter in UM history. My friends and I were ecstatic throughout the Hurricane domination. With a 52-7 win over Charleston Southern and crowd of 48,119, the first UM football home game at Sun Life Stadium was a great one.
