Arthur Ashe Stadium seating?

The best seats in the whole grounds are directly behind the baseline on Louis Armstrong and the Grandstand. The upper deck in Arthur Ashe is pretty far away from the action. However, late at night the attendees allow you to go down to closer seats so really there are no bad seats.

There are tents and an indoor arena which allows you to see how fast your serve is, tennis demos, past champions on banners throughout the grounds. There is a fountain with a big screen TV for those fans not fortunate enough to get into Arthur Ashe.

Best restaurants near Arthur Ashe Stadium?

Promenade Bar & Grill and Slattery's Midtown Pub are my two go to's.

Safety at Arthur Ashe Stadium?

New York City itself was surprisingly pleasant. Not once, day or night, did we feel threatened or in any way uncomfortable while walking or using public transportation in the areas we visited. All were safe and sanitary. And contrary to what we might have heard — the city natives were friendly and helpful wherever we went. Really, we could find no fault with our US Open experience.

What to expect from the Arthur Ashe Stadium crowd?

These crowds are the best in New York and when you watch a night tennis match at the U.S. Open, there is nothing else like it. Night matches bring out the best in the players and the crowd. I remember when the crowd actually cheered against Andy Roddick one night. This was unfathomable to me but this is the sort of crowd you get at the U.S. Open.

Dealing with scalpers at Arthur Ashe Stadium?

I didn't see any scalpers since it isn't a big market for these type of general admission tickets. I did see a number of cops going around to people to make sure this wasn't going on so to be safe I would discourage you from doing it.

Things to check out around Arthur Ashe Stadium?

You should definitely check out all the different tents and giveaways throughout the grounds. I would also recommend getting off of the show courts and see some of the lesser names in tennis up close and personal. Just make sure you leave someone in your party on the main stadium so you don't lose your valued seats.

Best giveaways at Arthur Ashe Stadium?

The U.S. Open offers free movies, TV series from USA, wristbands, Gatorade, candy, tennis towels, dampeners, and other tennis gear at different tents throughout the grounds.

Best bars near Arthur Ashe Stadium?

Promenade Bar & Grill and Slattery's Midtown Pub are my two go to pubs before the matches. Honkey Tonk Tavern and 40/40 club are my two favorite places to go after the matches. They both have televisions to watch the night matches and have a good New York atmosphere.

Arthur Ashe Stadium parking?

If you insist on driving, I recommend you park at Citi Field or the parking lot at Old Shea stadium and walk over the bridge to the Center.

Best insider tip for Arthur Ashe Stadium?

The morning lines at the East Gate, right off the subway/LIRR, are the longest and slowest. Walk around the crowd and to the South Gate, which is directly in front of the Unisphere. Then you will be one of the first to enter and you can get some of the best seats in tennis at Louis Armstrong stadium.

Best food and drink at Arthur Ashe Stadium?

$5.25 for a hot dog, $16.50 for burger, fries, and drink? Ouch! Instead, get your hand stamped, and step outside the Open for late lunch off a hot dog cart in Flushing Meadows Park for half the price. There are carts immediately outside the East Gate, or near the Unisphere out the South Gate. Or walk farther in the park toward the soccer fields, and you'll find a couple Ecuadorian and Peruvian snack carts for even less money.

Stores to hit up at Arthur Ashe Stadium?

There is a great Polo store which sells all U.S. Open memorabilia. There is also Nike, Adidas, and other tennis dealers.

Directions to Arthur Ashe Stadium?

Trust me. You don't want to drive to the US Open. Driving is a headache. Parking is expensive ($15) and far from the Open, and the traffic can kill your swinging mood. The #7 subway is cheap ($2) and stops a short walk from the US Open. So does the more expensive LIRR (Long Island Railroad). The advantages of the LIRR over the subway are the set schedule, comfier seats, and faster trip from Manhattan's Penn Station.
