Stadio Euganeo Sports Fan Tips

Stadio Euganeo is a venue in Padova

What to expect from the Stadio Euganeo crowd?

The atmosphere at concerts and shows seems to be better than at the football games. At these shows, the stage is set on the pitch itself with the crowd standing on the turf getting close to the action. This getting close to the action, is a problem at the football games. There is the old 'tradition' of multipurpose stadium here, with a running track separating the stands and the pitch. This, coupled with the fact, that Padua are playing in the second league of Italian football means that the atmosphere isn't the best in the country, though of course there are passionate fans who make the games a good time!

Safety at Stadio Euganeo?

Padua is an extremely old city, with monuments and history from the 13 th Century still on display around the town! The University District is a vibrant place and as you can imagine is full or bars, shops, restaurants and cafes where you could easily spend the day. It might be hard to miss, but the towering St Anthony's Basilica is definitely worth a closer look – do be aware though that you may not be able to take photographs inside the church though! Venice is also just a 30 minute train ride away and is a fantastic place to base yourself or to have a day trip in!

Best restaurants near Stadio Euganeo?

Trattoria Piave is a fantastic traditional place that really gives you a flavour of the region. The rustic atmosphere is matched with some wonderful food that will have you wanting more! The menu is very extensive but a tip would be to get the set menu! Three courses with wine is really not to be missed! Al Duomo is known amongst the locals as having the best pizza in town – which believe me is not an easy title to hold! It is very much 'Italian Pizza' here, with most dishes having a couple of toppings, really focusing on flavour, rather than the multitude of toppings you get elsewhere in Europe. Although not strictly a restaurant, Caffé Pedrocchi is rather famous and has hosted some famous faces through the years! Look for the drink which shares its name with the café – a twist on a cappuccino, with mint foam on top of strong espresso. It's a must!

Stadio Euganeo parking?

Padua's Stadium is predictably located outside of the city surrounded by a lot of farmland. As such, there isn't a whole lot of public transportation – plus it is probably a bit too far to walk from the centre of town (about 4.5km). You can take bus line 11 from the historic centre to the nearby 'Monta 96' Station, from which it is a short walk to the Stadio Euganeo.

Stadio Euganeo seating?

The stadium is quite traditional in its design, with 4 separate stands flanking the pitch and each having their own flavour! The North and South Stands house the away fans and the more fervent home supporters. While the home fans here are not as intense as some ultra groups around the country – they do give the chants a good go! Ticket prices here are around €10-15 which is a great deal for a modern-day football game. The seats and views in the East and West stands are much superior, though do be careful as you may find yourself with an obstructed view seat, with some parts of the stand supported by pillars!

Best Bars near Stadio Euganeo?

With the stadium being surrounded by farmland, there are no bars and pubs in the immediate vicinity of the ground, and so for your pre and post match beers you will be best off staying in the centre of Padua. Luckily, there are some suitable places in town! Old English Pub Padua is a great place to sink a few beers, it's an enormous place with over three floors so you won't find the queues to bad, even on a game day! Zanellato is a great place, especially amongst the younger crowd in Padua, and as such there is more of a party atmosphere here than elsewhere in the town. There are some great drinks and some big parties here, especially on the weekend! Birrolandia is a great place to visit if you are a fan of local brewed beers! There are some great brews here and an enormous selection!

Best Food and Drink at Stadio Euganeo?

Unfortunately, whilst the stadium has rather a good reputation for putting on concerts and shows, the fan experience at football games is a bit lacking. The facilities are not the best here and while there are some small snacks to purchase – you might be best on bringing your own food if you think you'll get peckish!

Best Insider tip at Stadio Euganeo?

When you are looking to buy your tickets, you have some choices. The preferred way of buying tickets online in Italy is through 'Ticketzone'. The company also have branches at the Cassa di Risparmio del Veneto Bank and in the historic centre. It's a bit out of the way to go without a ticket, but Padua games very rarely are a sell out, so you can feel confident in going to the stadium on a match day and buying a ticket there.
