Stadio Renzo Barbera Sports Fan Tips

Stadio Renzo Barbera is a venue in Palermo

Stadio Renzo Barbera parking?

The Stadium is around 4.5 km away from the centre of town – and with no small stations near the stadium, the only choice you have is by bus – if you don't want to take an overpriced taxi. During the week and weekends, your best bet is to take the Number 101 from the main train station and ride it to the 'Stadio' stop. Otherwise the 106 and 107 both run to the stadium but only operate on the weekends.

Best Food and Drink at Stadio Renzo Barbera?

Unfortunately, the area around the stadium and indeed inside it is lacking when it comes to refreshments. The locals here prefer to take their time over a meal, rather than the fast food culture that is so popular elsewhere. So, if you are used to the ample supplies offered at grounds around the continent, I would bring a snack of two with you – or wait till after the game.

Stadio Renzo Barbera seating?

The Stadium might not be on the Italian mainland but it does follow the traditions of its counterparts. The Ultra style fans will be found in the North Stand, and even if you aren't too sure about spending 90 minutes with the die-hard Sicilian fans – the €14 ticket price may change your mind. If you pay top dollar - €50-60 for your seats – you will be rewarded at the Stadio Renzo. The West Stand not only has the newest and most comfortable seats in the house – it is the only stand that is covered from the elements. And if the match isn't too enthralling, the backdrop of the mountains will take your breath away.

Best Bars near Stadio Renzo Barbera?

There are some pretty nice restaurants around the Stadio Renzo, but for some prematch beers you don't always want a sit down, upscale place. As such Golden Bar is a great half way house with a nice terrace to enjoy some beers on. Bar Garden is a great spot to enjoy some beers with local fans and talk football all day, whereas for a bit more of an atmosphere – you should try Ricovero which has some strong German beer on sale as well as live music!

What to expect from the Stadio Renzo Barbera crowd?

The brigade of away fans that come to watch Palermo will never be that big – there is something about coming to an island to watch a football match that seems to put fans off. Luckily, the home fans make up for their absence by creating a wonderfully combative atmosphere – look for ultra groups such as The Warriors and Brigate Rosanero to lead the charge.

Best restaurants near Stadio Renzo Barbera?

With its status as Scilly's top city, Palermo naturally has its pick of some wonderful seafood that you have to indulge in. Lo Scrigno dei Sapori is a great restaurant with some first-class food. Though it is quite expensive and might be a bit formal for a lot of people, it does have a great terrace and garden you can dine in. Right near the main railway station, Trattoria Trapani is a great traditional restaurant! It offers some great antipasti – though you must try the swordfish.

Safety at Stadio Renzo Barbera?

Vucciria, Ballaro' and Capo are all within walking distance from one another and all really embody the traditional Sicilian food market – see the sights and smell the wonderful aromas, but do be prepared for the assault on your eardrums! Vucciria literally means Chaos in Sicilian. To escape from all this wonderful madness, you should take advantage of your island location and get yourself to some of Sicily's fantastic beaches and worship the sunrays for an hour or two. Palermo Cathedral and Teatro Massimo are also worth a trip to see (and photograph)
