Last weekend I had the opportunity to visit Citizens Bank Park and see a Phillies Game for the first time. I took my wife, 8 year old daughter and it was my 5 year old daughter’s first MLB Game, and it was an experience that was well worth the trip. I knew it was going to be a good day when right from the drive down Darien Street, there was no heavy traffic and there were tons of parking areas. We chose the Parking lot at Lincoln Financial Field since it was close to the Box Office (we had to get our tickets from Will Call). Parking was cheap; $15 and as we pulled onto the lot I was amazed at the number of tailgate parties going on (the Phillies are not having their best year, yet the fans were still out in droves). The people were friendly and courteous.
We had to pick up our tickets at Will Call, and the ticket attendant was very friendly and helpful. Getting inside the park was a breeze too. Once inside there were lots of ushers to help you find your section and get you seated. They were very friendly to our little girls and made them feel right at home. Our seats we behind home plate a bout one section to the third base side. The theater style seating made it easy for the little ones to see, and were very comfy, with lots of room. Of course as soon as we sat down, the kids began to eat their way through the game, Hot Dogs, Peanuts, Cotton Candy, Chicken & Fries, and of course Ice Cream in a Phillies Hat. The food was good and the Prices were reasonable.
The Fans inside were as polite and courteous as in the lot, especially considering we had kids getting up and down constantly. Since we are all Orioles Fans, and this was a game between the Phillies and Rockies, we really had no dog in the fight and were able to sit back, watch and enjoy our first time at CBP. I would defiantly go back and highly recommend the park to any baseball fan. Sometimes it is a lot of fun to just sit back and enjoy a game when you don’t care who wins!
