Best Food and Drink at Liberty Stadium?

The drinks at the stadium are not exactly the crown jewel of British cuisine, but if you've got a thirst about you, they're better than nothing. Carling is your lager option, and Worthington Bitter is the alternative. In terms of food, there's the usual matchday fare available in the form of pies, pasties and the like. There's a good chippy outside the stadium called "Rossi's” which, it seems, even does healthy options like baked potatoes on top of the deep fried grub.

Best Insider tip at Liberty Stadium?

For away fans, there is now a Park & Ride facility that is recommended for the journey to and from the stadium. It's £6 per car, which covers both your parking and the two-way bus journey to the stadium. Given it alleviates the stress of trying to park near the venue, and that the price is practically zero if you're with a few friends, this is a truly great option for visiting fans who want to make use of their cars.

Things to check out around Liberty Stadium?

Just a few minutes' walk from the venue is one of my favourite places on Earth: an escape room! The Escape Game has three different rooms, of varying difficulty, where each has its own theme. The structure is the same: solve clues which will eventually lead you to the keys for the room, and escape before the timer runs out and you're trapped forever!**Okay, not really, but it does get quite tense. Really great fun for any age, but limited to groups of 4 I think.

What to expect from the Liberty Stadium crowd?

There is a massive singing contingent in the East Stand which helps generates a huge amount of atmosphere before the game even kicks off. With the away fans quite far away (in the North Stand), the two contingents can easily sing each other hoarse as they try to one-up each other. The fans are a friendly bunch, with no real track record of violence, so a bit of banter between crowds is usually okay. That said, there are always exceptions, so maybe pull a hoodie over your strip when you're around the venue.

Best restaurants near Liberty Stadium?

So there are options as soon as you leave the stadium (like Frankie and Benny's or Harvester), but they will be rammed and they aren't exactly high quality dining. You're better off travelling back into town and wandering up either the Kingsway or Neath Road. You've got the Madeira restaurant (a top-rated Portuguese joint), M-Bar (which is a lovely bar/restaurant which a superb menu) and many others. Either browse online and book, or simply stroll along after the game and window shop.

Liberty Stadium seating?

If you're an away fan, then you will be seated with between 1-2000 of your fellow supporters in the North Stand. As a fairly new stadium built with usability in mind – rather than glitz and glam – the seats are exceptional. The legroom is better than the vast majority of UK teams – certainly those in the top flight – and the spacing between rows means no view is affected. There is a metal barrier separating the home and away fans, but Swansea isn't a club much associated with crowd violence, fortunately!

Best Bars around Liberty Stadium?

There's nothing as important as a fan's thirst on a matchday. Except, occasionally, the football itself. Swansea is one of those great football towns which is very accommodating to away fans. There's a Harvester and Frankie & Benny's just outside the stadium, and Wind (pronounced Wynd) Street in the middle of town boasts a number of great bars and restaurants. As a home fan, you can go to any of the local pubs, of course, and it's up to you whether or not to mingle with the away crowd.

How do I get to Liberty Stadium?

Liberty stadium is a pretty accessible venue, so you shouldn't have any trouble getting here. The cheapest way is to arrive at the train station and take the 25-30 minute walk; it's simple and easy to follow. Otherwise there are bus services which go that way (4, 4a, 120, 122, 125, 132) from the station, and a free bus for away fans to get back after the game!If you're keen to drive, there is very little parking near the venue, as the majority is residential or permit-only.
