The stadium operates on a cashless system, that although annoying to set up, does mean that queues are reducing at the 16 kiosks and 12 bars around the ground. The VFL Card is available around the ground – you will have to put down a €10 deposit however and the card has to have at least €5 on it. Don't worry though – you can get whatever balance is left on your card back at the end of the day.

The food is fantastic – and for a restaurant with 3 Michelin Stars it should be!Das Brot is just outside the AutoStadt museum and is definitely worth taking a pit stop for some lunch at. They make some unbelievable sandwiches on some artisanal bread – perfect with a delicious cup of coffee.

The food at Wolfsburg is seemingly much like the ethos of the team. It is presented very well with lots of kiosks and bars serving the public – and the food and drinks that are served are without a doubt fan favourites – Bratwursts, Fries, Pretzels and Beer are the order of the day. The prices are affordable for most people as well. – It is the Volkswagen ethos translated to catering. Not that I'm complaining!

As well as taking a stadium tour and seeing what players such as Mario Gomez and Luiz Gustavo see on a daily basis – there are plenty of things for you to enjoy in Wolfsburg.The AutoStadt is a great car and motor sport museum that will provide entertainment for hours even for those people not really interested in cars. Classic beers and pub grub is on offer with some pub games that will keep you entertained!Alt-Berlin is another good place to go. A pub in the traditional sense, it also has a large terrace which will fill up pretty quickly on a sunny game day!For something a little more relaxed – Café Bare Celona might just be the place for you. A place for grabbing a coffee and maybe a bite to eat in the day – it stays open till 1am serving up great drinks and cocktails.

What to expect from the Volkswagen Arena crowd?

Make no mistake about it, the Volkswagen Arena is a really nice place to go. The crowd are treated to some good football and a lot of the players in the team could feature in any of the top teams around Europe. However – whereas at Dortmund, Schalke and Munich – you get fan bases that are crazy about their team and are ultra passionate in their support – the family friendly nature of the team lessens this charged atmosphere a tad. It's no St Pauli, put it that way. That isn't to say that the atmosphere is lacking though! It's a great day out!

Here you have standing tickets for €12 and seats for €19.The club prides itself on being a family friendly club – and so, thankfully, the 'Wolfi-Kurve' South Stand is a non-smoking area – a welcome respite to those not used to people being allowed to smoke inside a stadium.
