The journey to the ground from the city, although pleasant and along the waterfront, doesn't have much in the way of libation – as such if you want to have a couple of drinks before getting to the ground – you should stay in the city centre.You know what you are going to get with an Irish Pub abroad and Irish Pub No. 7 is no different. Classic beers and pub grub is on offer with some pub games that will keep you entertained!Alt-Berlin is another good place to go. A pub in the traditional sense, it also has a large terrace which will fill up pretty quickly on a sunny game day!For something a little more relaxed – Café Bare Celona might just be the place for you. A place for grabbing a coffee and maybe a bite to eat in the day – it stays open till 1am serving up great drinks and cocktails.

Looking for a place close to the stadium to have a couple of beers before a match? Try out "Halle 09”, a fan pub right inside of the arena which offers a location for more than 500 fans. Meet the local fans and chat about the the passion you share, football! Also, there is "Club 45”, another bar / restaurant, but this one is more fancy and you will usually find yourself within a large crowd of VIP ticket holders. For an after-match drink, I highly recommend "Newman's Bar” about 500m west of the stadium. Great place to have a good drink and enjoy the stunning views of the Wolfsburg harbor. Also a great place to see the sunset on the sky terrace after a game.

The club has its own pub, but it isn't by the stadium. VfL Gaststätte is on Elsterweg, where the club's headquarters are and the old stadium, vacated in 2002 for the Volkswagen Arena, can be found. In the city there are the usual selection of pubs and cocktail bars, with Playoff, a sports bar chain, proving popular with fans before matches.
