Angers have been a middling Ligue 1 team for a couple of years now and the thrill of being promoted has worn off, and lacklustre performances on the pitch – have led to a lack of support inside the stadium, making the 18,000 capacity arena feel even smaller than it should be. There are some vocal fan groups – but they need the help from the rest of the crowd to inspire Angers on to greatness. Continued Ligue 1 seasons is great for business but for the fans without the thrill of a title challenge or the nerves of a survival race – the season can fizzle out.

Jean-Bouin's crowd is average at its most. The stadium usually doesn't really get full and there is no big cheering or anything exciting going on. Still, people are quite nice and friendly, especially, if you speak some French. Safety is guaranteed and it might be the place to bring your children as there is nothing to worry about.
