Things to check out around Esprit Arena?

Esprit Arena is a venue in Dusseldorf

Even if drinking isn't particularly your thing, you have to check out Dusseldorf's old town. With over 300 bars and pubs squeezed into a small area, it is a sight worth seeing! The Rheinpark is a great place in Dusseldorf that really gives the city a great metropolitan feel. The promenade is flush with cafes and trees and you can spend a whole day wandering up and down. The Schloss Benrath just outside the city is a wonderful place to spend a day – just think of a German version of a grand French chateux! A piece of history near an increasingly modern city.

Whereas the historical Dusseldorf city center is about 5km away there are still some cool things to check out near the stadium. It is located next to a fantastic park area called "Nordpark” where you will have time to relax and enjoy some peaceful minutes before a lively game. Also, there is a zoo right within the park area called "Aquazoo”. Another awesome thing to check out is the world's biggest boat and diving exhibition called "Boot Düsseldorf”. If you are in any kind interested in water sports you will love it, for kids it is a great thing to visit, too.

The stadium itself is in the Messe, where some of Europe's biggest trade fairs are held. That hasn't had a great effect on tourist attractions. Don't hang around there - instead head to the Altstadt, the old town, which was completely destroyed in the Second World War and then faithfully recreated. It's known as the "longest bar in the world” and you'll not lack for watering holes or eateries and the chance to have a leisurely wander along the Rhine is not to be missed.
