How do I get to Schwarzwald Stadion?

Schwarzwald Stadion is a venue in Freiburg

The stadium is found nearly 5km away from the city centre – so unless you have got a lot of time on your hands then walking isn't really advisable! Neither unfortunately is driving – there isn't an official car park as such and most of the street parking is for residents with permits only! I fyou do bring a car, your best bet is to park at the College of Education for a few Euro's and use the Park and Ride Scheme. The method that most fans use to get to the Schwarzwald Stadion is the Number 1 Tram. Take it from the train station or from other places around town and ride until Römerhof station. From there, the stadium is just a 10-minute walk away. The tram system can get very busy after the game however as this is the only real way to get to the ground.

Car: When coming into Freiburg you will be finding yourself on the highway A5 which you want to exit at "Freiburg-Mitte”. Get onto the state road B31 towards Freiburg and keep straight towards "Donaueschingen”. You will be directed to the stadium, simply follow the street / the signs. Be aware that there is a very limited amount of parking lots near the stadium. Use the various Park + Ride options that the city offers to get to the venue. Tram: Take a train to Freiburg Central Station. From here you want to get on the tram line S1 towards Littenweiler and get off at "Römerhof” station. Make your way to the stadium which is going to be a 3-minute walk. If already holding a valid ticket for the match you are good to go on all the public transports right before a match.

It's not called the Schwarzwald Stadion for nothing. Situated in the Schwarzwald - the Black Forest to you and me - it is a decent distance from the city centre. Fortunately, public transport links are decent: take the tram line 1 from the Hauptbahnhof in the direction of Littenweiler and get off at Römerhof stop, around ten minutes walk from the stadium.
