The Etihad is one of those venues where away pubs can be tricky to track down. The Townley is only five minutes from the stadium, and is pretty welcoming. Another option is the acclaimed sports bar The Green. It has everything you want from a matchday pub, plus it welcomes all fans (no club colours on Manchester derby days!) and is only 12 minutes' tram ride to the stadium.If you want a bit more flexibility, head to the Printworks in town: loads of bars with good drinks and food menus. You can't really go wrong. Home fans are welcome pretty much anywhere, so check out any of the puns around Piccadilly itself!

The pubs closest to the Etihad are very much for home fans only and offer a boisterous atmosphere; the most popular of these being 'The Manchester', 'Mary D'Bemish Bar' and 'The Eastlands'. All of these get busy on game days so get there early and experience a true City game day - it is worth noting that especially on bigger match days entrance is only allowed with a ticket to the game.Away fans will have to look a little further afield for friendly pubs. The area around Piccadilly and Victoria stations is ever popular with the Printworks being a trendy spot with lots of bars that also serve good food. Yates' bar near Piccadilly is also away friendly, as is The Green - though don't wear team strips on Manchester derby day.Closer to the stadium, 'The Townley' and 'The Bradford Inn' are a 5 and 10 minute walk from the Etihad and are away friendly providing that you behave yourself!
