Madison Square Garden, colloquially known as The Garden or in initials as MSG, is a multi-purpose indoor arena in New York City. Located in Midtown Manhattan between 7th and 8th Avenues from 31st to 33rd Streets, it is situated atop Pennsylvania Station.
Anything courtside is the way to go but that means you have to spend countless dollars. If you are trying to get the best bang for the buck, I suggest Section 214. You are still close but the drop in price well outweighs sitting with the big boys. Sections 1, 2 and 8 are at the ends of the court and really bad - you will be able to see much of only the half of the game at that end. 225 is way too far away from the action and I wouldn't pay for these seats.
I think the key is for great value-sit front row or second row in the 200s on the side of the court / rink.- if your willing to pay more the back of the 100s is really good- id avoid behind the net or goal as it can be hard to see the other end, unless you are really close- club seata can be great as you can order from your seats
I don think there is such a thing as a bad seat at MSQ if you are visiting or seeing it for the first time! We were 10 rows from the back but amazingly still felt like we were close to the action. We were side on to the rink so could see everything very clearly
I would recommend experiencing different views. while I was there I watched 3 Knicks games and 2 Rangers games. I got to watch from directly side on half way up, I had a seat right up the back for a rangers game and then had some closer to the court and rink on a slight angle. I appreciated all the seats for the prices I paid. The experience of it will still make a good time. But I do think the seas directly behind the basketball ring wouldn't be as great.
