How do I get to BayArena?

The BayArena isn't too far outside of the city, indeed, it is only a mile walk from the main Leverkusen Mitte Station and so you will be able to follow the stream of supporters to the stadium, and the journey should only take you 15 minutes.You can also take the bus to Bismarckstraße street, where the stadium is. Just hop on any one of 201, 233 and 255 services.There is free parking near the stadium at 'Kurtekotten' car park, however be sure to get there early though as the roads around the ground are closed around kick off.

Unlike a lot of other countries – especially England, Germany allows safe standing for a lot of its supporters – this is no different at the BayArena. Ticket prices will fluctuate dependent on who is playing but an average standing ticket on the terrace will cost €15 which really isn't bad!The seats behind the goals on either side of the stadium are typically where the most passionate fans sit – and these too are affordable at Bayer Leverkusen, averaging out at €25! Away fans are segregated somewhat in the South West Corner, opposite the most vocal fans which creates a good atmosphere.The most expensive seats run the length of the pitch, and while all views around the stadium are great – the angle really is the best from here. Prices do reflect that, around €50 average, though the best tickets will go up to €75 when Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund come to town.

Like a lot of other German grounds, you will pay for anything you buy inside by using the cashless 'BayArena-Card' system. The card can be bought from all of the many ticket windows on Bismarckstraße and don't worry if you have forgotten to top up, there are 70 points in and around the ground!

Best restaurants near BayArena?

As well as being a pre-match favourite for a few beers on their terrace, Haus Am Park, also has a very good restaurant that is worth checking out, especially if you don't want to walk far after the game. The menu is made up of some very traditional German and European dishes, which really go down a treat!Sometimes nothing else will do than an enormous steak – luckily, this is what Angus Steakhouse specialise in! Near the BayArena, serving great beer and sumptuous steaks – this is a perfect way to celebrate a Leverkusen win!If you are after something a little different than German food, Soul Kitchen is the perfect alternative! The Sushi and South Korean restaurant may have cheap prices but it is big on flavour.

Best Food and Drink at BayArena?

Although the BayArena was famous for having the first ever internal McDonalds actually inside the stadium. However, unfortunately for Big Mac lovers, the closest McDonalds now is just across the street. There is the usual food and drinks on sale inside the stadium – think Sausages, Salted Pretzels and Beer!Remember though – it is an all cashless stadium though!

Best Bars around BayArena?

Unlike some other grounds around the country, the area around the BayArena is well populated with lots of great bars and clubs for you to socialise in and enjoy a few beers before the game!Located on the same street as the stadium are both Haus Am Park, which has a great terrace to enjoy the sunshine – drinks do come at a premium here though! Otherwise there is a trendy Cuban style bar – Havana – that serves up great cocktails and used to be a favourite haunt of the players!Across the road from the stadium is the football themed – Pille – As well as having an indoor football pitch, the sports bar has plenty of TV screens to watch the build-up and has a good sized beer garden as well!

What to expect from the BayArena crowd?

Through recent expansion, the capacity of the stadium has increased to 30,000 and the club prides itself on keeping the stands and the fans as close to the action as possible – which makes for a cracking atmosphere. To say that the club is consistently in the top few clubs in the Bundesliga, and competing in Europe most seasons, the capacity of the stadium is still quite intimate. As such the atmosphere is fantastic! A cauldron of noise.
