Despite not being the NHL, the European Ice Hockey League actually has rather a good following and games at the Laxness Arena have great atmospheres! The club makes a big deal out of having and promoting supporter's groups which means that the atmosphere at the games is usually great! This atmosphere is carried over to whatever event is at the stadium – be it a concert or a keenly contested handball game!

The stadium is very big which sometimes makes it hard for the fans to create an electrifying atmosphere. However, the fans are very cheerful and will be singing throughout the entire match. Cologne people are crazy about hockey and you will feel it once going to the stadium. Even when they play away there is always a huge number of fans traveling with their team. Ice hockey fans in Germany are very creative and always introduce new chants – you will be amazed!

Kölner Haie - the Sharks - are one of the best supported ice hockey teams in Germany and the fans are a rowdy bunch. That doesn't mean that you should expect trouble - all the fighting will be done on the ice! - but there will be singing and choreographed displays from the standing section behind the goals.
