Monday Night Football; ‘4’ The Win:

October 29, 2007 was not your typical Monday night in Denver. With many Denver sports fans still reeling from the agonizing defeat of The Colorado Rockies in the 2007 Fall Classic just 24 hours prior to kickoff, this night was meant to be a rebound. Enter Brett Favre and The Green Bay Packers.
History was on Denver’s side as Green Bay had never won in The Mile High. Brett Favre had other plans. The Packers came in as one of the hottest teams in the NFL at the time and had NO intentions of slowing down. The Denver defense did all they could to stifle the Favre led juggernaut.
Denver drew first blood late in the 1st quarter. It took Green Bay less than a minute to tie it up. On to the second quarter where The Packers would be the only ones to add points, a pair of field goals, before heading into half. With the score 13-7 in favor of the road team, Denver’s defense played top notch and pitched a shut out for the second half. Denver mustered one field goal towards the end of the 3rd quarter. They needed more. A 15 minute scoreless battle ensued until Denver took possession with just under 3 minutes to go. Somehow, they managed to drive the length of the field and with no timeouts, set themselves up for a chance to tie. Jason Elam struck gold with a 21 yard field goal as time expired. This game was going to overtime!
At this point, EVERYONE was on their feet. The Packers brought with them a healthy crowd to The Mile High. As one of the most renowned franchises in all of sports, it’s not uncommon to find a sea of green and gold while in any stadium away from Lambeau Field. The Packers won the toss and took the ball. Favre stepped up to the line with Greg Jennings split left. Favre dropped back and fires a rocket down the left side into the hands of a streaking Jennings. GAME OVER! It took one play and just under 20 seconds to deflate The Broncos team and fans. Typical Favre!
PS. I’m from WI and I love my Packers dearly 🙂
