I loved watching the mid 1990’s Colorado Avalanche. I remember at the time they represented the good guys and the Detroit Red Wings represented the evil empire who were mainly composed of Russians and Eastern Slavic countries. The greatest goaltender ever, Patrick Roy, was a large part of the Avalanche–Red Wings rivalry. I was at a game during Thanksgiving where the Avalanche slammed the New York Islanders 7-3. This team was fun to watch since they had a great goaltender, great scoring with Fleury, Sakic, and others, as well as great defenseman. The Avalanche crowd was electrifying and really made for a great atmosphere to watch hockey.
