Some of the highest standard of basketball in the world is played in Europe. European basketball leagues are scattered across the continent and matches are generally played from September until June.
There are also competitions like the EuroLeague and FIBA Basketball Champions League, which feature highly-ranked teams from European nations, similar to the Champions League in football. These are played between September and May. Teams generally play in Euroleague competition games on the weekend and national league games on weekdays.
