If you're looking for a no frills sort of lunch – then do as the locals do and make a stop at Ebert's Suppenstube (catchy name I know). They serve up some great soups and salads, as well as all the different kind or Wurst (sausage) that you could imagine. The place is popular so seating inside doesn't last long, but it does have a nice terrace outside too. You'd think that being a city that gave its name to a hot dog that burgers would take a back seat. Not so at Der Fette Bulle. An American style place just minutes from the train station – it has carved a reputation as being one of the best in the city. Try the chiliburger and sweet potato fries! There is something else if you've had your fill of filling food! Toh-Thong Thai Cuisine may be cheap but it is full of Asian flavour and spice!

There is one restaurant right next to the stadium called "Restaurant VierF” which is part of a hotel. Food is fine, prices are generally seen a bit to high for what you're getting. All in all, viable option to grab something to eat, but nothing too special. The really good places are all about 2km from the venue. If you want to have an amzing dinner after the match, I highly recommend "Thai & Turf – Steakhouse”, about 3km from the stadium, great food and amazing ambiance. Definitely worth a visit! Other really good options are a Greek place called "Alexis Sorbas” and an Italian place called "Restaurant & Weinbar Olive”. Both also offer you great food and are about 2km from Commerzbank Arena.

Eating by the stadium is pretty limited. Aside from the usual pop-up trucks flogging bratwursts and beer, you'll really struggle to get anything at all. The option for a sitdown meal is VierF on Otto-Fleck-Schneise, part of the Lindner Hotel, where they do a full restaurant service. Watch out though, it's very pricey.
