The Veltins Arena, being built in 2001, has 35 kiosks on the concourses for food and drinks so the queues are minimal which is always a big plus! The food is your standard German footballing food with plenty of Fries, Hot Dogs, Pretzels and Burgers. You can wash it down with a cold beer that you can bring to your seat! The beers are around the standard price €4 but you will need to pay a surcharge for the cup – which can be refunded at the end of the game.

Of course, everybody who goes to Schalke will at least hold one cup of beer in his hand. You won't be surprised that the entire stadium operates a 5km long beer line connecting all the beer stands to provide the quick and good football fan's drink of choice. Beer is 3,60€ for 0,4 liters. Another thing to go for is the "Bratwurst”. I know, we Germans love our Bratwurst. Other options would be Pizza or Pretzels, but I feel like these items are a bit overpriced compared to the rest. Usually the stadium operates a cashless card system, however, for outsiders I recommend looking for the few food stands where you can still pay by cash.

This is the Veltins Arena, so it comes as no surprise that Veltins is the tipple of choice. They're decently priced at €3.90, though expect some to have to pick up a cashless card to buy one. Each game sells an estimated 2.5 tons of sausage, with around 50 places inside the stadium to pick one up. They cost €2.70 a throw, which might explain how the likes of Raul and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar were enticed to join the Königsblauen.
