Picture this: It is August 1, 2014. I got off work early on this Friday afternoon. So, you know downtown traffic is extremely thick. I decided to find a parking lot a few blocks away from the arena – and walk there. I would say that it was nice … but we are talking about being outside in the Deep South in the middle of summer … lol … All-in-all, it was great to take in the city before I walked into the large indoor arena that houses the Nashville Predators.
Once I got to Broadway and 5th Avenue South, it was easy to find. Even though you know you have stepped foot on Bridgestone Arena soil, you also cannot miss the fact that you are in the middle of Smashville Territory. I made my way through the crowd and got inside the arena. I looked to my left. I looked to my right. It was almost nothing but Predator paraphernalia adoring the building.
However, I wasn’t attending a hockey game. I wasn’t even attending a concert. This night – I had the privilege to stand on stage and join 60 other men to sing in front of 10,000 other men. Later that night, I also enjoyed watching former President George W. Bush speak. So, it was a great night.
It was a great joy to visit – and even perform in front of – Bridgestone Arena.
