If you do drive, look for street parking, the lots are expensive and very disorganized. You can find some nice turnover from the downtown work crowd if you go early enough

Parking near the Verizon Center can be challenging during popular events. The Verizon Center has its own parking garage which opens 1 ½ hours before and closes 1 hour after most events. There are additional parking garages in the Penn Quarter neighborhood totally about 10,000 spaces located within walking distance to the Verizon Center.

Parking is surprisingly not that bad at all. You can find street parking or go the underground parking lot route. Of course the smoothness and easiness of it all varies depending on what time or how late you get there.
